Details
We'll commence our journey from Arusha in the morning en route to Serengeti National Park. Our route offers a scenic drive near the Ngorongoro Crater, providing opportunities for wildlife sightings. The endless golden savannah adorned with vibrant vegetation and wildlife illustrates why the Serengeti is recognized as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.
A picturesque stop will be made for a picnic lunch atop a kopje, a small hill within the flat terrain, allowing you to savor your meal surrounded by the natural beauty. Continuing into the Serengeti, we'll embark on a relaxed game drive. Your overnight stay will be at the Serengeti Camp, which offers comprehensive camping facilities for your comfort and enjoyment.
The day commences at the heart of the majestic Serengeti. Following a nourishing breakfast, our expedition continues into the vast plains, ensuring a full day of extensive game driving. You'll likely witness a plethora of diverse animals that call the Serengeti's endless expanse their home. This experience is bound to provide sightings of the iconic African mammals for which the park is renowned – expect encounters with lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs, and water buffalo, often just a few feet from the jeep.
In addition to these well-known creatures, visitors will have the opportunity to spot some of the park's lesser-known yet equally magnificent animals, including elands, hyenas, gazelles, crocodiles, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, and antelopes. Depending on the time of year, witnessing thousands of zebra and wildebeest during their Great Migration might be possible. Bird enthusiasts will delight in observing the park's hundreds of bird species, including both indigenous and migrating birds from the Eurasian region, offering a special treat for bird-watchers.
The day concludes with a delightful and freshly prepared dinner at the campsite, allowing guests to savor their meal in the heart of this remarkable natural setting.
Today marks our final game drive in the Serengeti before we proceed to Ngorongoro Crater. Our overnight stay will be at a Camp, perfectly situated at the rim of the crater, offering an ideal vantage point to witness the breathtaking sunset unfold over the savannah within the caldera. The stunning panoramic view allows guests to immerse themselves in the beauty of the scenery.
As the sunset fades, guests can anticipate a delightful dinner prepared fresh by the skilled AfroKlan Tours cook, ensuring a satisfying and flavorsome evening to culminate our day of adventure.
We'll embark on an early morning departure for the Ngorongoro Crater, a prime time for exceptional game sightings. Our game drive within the crater will include a picnic lunch, taking advantage of the elevated structure that tends to host a significant number of animals. It offers a high likelihood of spotting all members of 'The Big 5' – the formidable lion, the colossal elephant, the agile leopard, the robust rhinoceros, and the commanding buffalo. The Crater's formation dates back millions of years when a massive volcano erupted.
Expect to encounter a diverse array of wildlife including zebra, hippopotamus, wildebeest, and vocal hyenas. Along the Soda Lake, elegant flamingos grace the surroundings, while vultures circle the sky, searching for discarded carcasses. Storks and geese, popular water birds, can also be observed in the crater's landscape. Our game drive will conclude post lunch.
Upon completion, our driver will transport you back to Arusha. Should you require transportation to the airport or a flight to Zanzibar, arrangements can be accommodated upon request.
